Design for a contemporary fashion shop in the center of Vienna.

CONCEPT
The initial idea of the client was to create two different atmosspheres on two levels, one luxury boutique and a loft style showroom. The connection link is a terrazzo like staircase whose handrail is made out of natural, stamped steel and morphs into a space defining element. Mirrors in the showroom downstairs give an impression of infinity. Precious elements of the original shop which existed for nearly hundred years were carefully integrated into the concept. The facade of the shop was listed under heritage of ancient monuments and was restaurated by conservators who removed layers of paint in a manual process. The whole furnitures of the shop are coated in white.
