Jahrestagung des Leo Baeck Institutes
Die Installation stellt einen Dialog zwischen der Musik diverser Schallplatten des New Yorker Leo Baeck Archives und den Interview-Aufnahmen der Austrian Heritage Collection her.
Die Musikstücke, gedacht als Erinnerungsträger ihrer einstigen Besitzer, wählen über ihre Partialtonanalyse die von mir in Halbtonschritten sortierten Fragmente der Interviews aus.
Ich sortierte die Passagen in welchen die Interviewteilnehmer über ihre Kindheit in Wien erzählen nach den Tonhöhen ihrer Sprechstimmen um so eine chromatische Skala über zwei Oktaven mit insgesamt 500 Erinnerungsfragmenten zu erstellen. Synchron zur Musik wurden die einzelnen Sprach- bzw. Erinnerungsfragmente stochastisch auf die vier im Garten platzierten Lautsprecher verteilt. Über die drei zentralen Fenster zum Garten wurden neben der Musik auch mehrfache Faltungen des Klangmaterials abgespielt, die den akustischen Raum der Installation definierten und die Stimmen darin einbetteten.
Die Anordnung der sieben Lautsprecher wurde dem einheitlichen geometrischen Ordnungsprinzip des Gebäudes unterworfen. Gleich dem 1911 vom deutschen Architekten Peter Behrens geplanten Haus Wiegand, orientiert sich die Installation an der übergeordneten Struktur der mittig verlaufenden Längsachse des Grundstückes. Im Garten setzen vier Lautsprecher die Säulenordnung des Hauses fort und spiegeln die Umrisse des Eingangsperistyls um den Mittelpunkt des Gebäudes.
Die drei zentralen Fenster der Gartenfassade werden durch Transducer zu Lautsprechern, die sowohl den Garten, als auch den Innenraum des Hauses beschallen.

Für die erste Phase des Wettbewerbs wurden 123 Bewerbungen eingereicht. Davon hat die Jury 31 Teams für die 2. Phase des Wettbewerbs ausgewählt. Aus der Juryentscheidung am 25.09.2008 ging DIVANY als weitplazierter Bewerber hervor.

Hört Engelstrompeten und Teufelsposaunen, ihr seid eingeladen!
… Und es klang … Und, oh meine Schwestern, für einen Augenblick war’s, als sei ein großer, bunter Vogel vom Himmel gerauscht! Und ich spürte, wie sich all meine Body-Härchen aufrichteten, und ein Schauer kroch langsam an mir rauf und runter, als wär’s eine Eidechse…
Ich sitze in einem Raum, in einem Raum, der nicht der Raum ist in dem sie sich gerade befinden…
… Wie ein Vogel aus dem kostbaren Metall des Weltalls gesponnen… Wie Silberwein, der durch ein Raumschiff schwebt… Hier wird Schwerkraft zum Unsinn! Und während ich lauschte, sah ich so liebliche Bilder…
Die Frequenzen bewegen sich, die Klangmasse rückt vor und zieht sich wieder zurück. Der Raum wird von unsichtbaren Wesen in Unruhe versetzt. Ihre Bewegungen erzeugen Unterschiede. In unserem binauralen Hören, in Druck von rechts, ein Zerren von links.

Ohrenstrand ist eine Kooperation aus die Akademie der Künste, das ausland, das Kammerensemble Neue Musik Berlin, das Konzerthaus Berlin, das kulturradio vom rbb, die singuhr–hoergalerie, die Technische Universität und die Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin.

how how my pirates! let´s conquer!
this astronaut is on the search for new suites and playgroundes!! It will be a series of animated shorts and everybody is invited to play her/his part in it. Real filmed mini-sets are the stage for the austronauts adventures, so if somebody want to writea short story or want to build/film a mini set or want to design a new spacesuite you are INVITED!

Pahdi Frieberger will come up for the opening exhibition. He is a phantom of the viennese art scene and hard to be categorised. He is mostly known for his opposition to the institutionalised artworld. After years of public avoidance and neglection he momentarily reaps the benefits of his second spring being featured by many well established galleries.
The extremly thight budget for the gallery doesn`t permit any elaborated concepts. It forces us to work with what is affordable. In such an environment ideas exist in abundance, they lay around as elsewhere garbage. So why not materialise our Ideas with left over things. Lets go and make garbage-ideas instead of just milking your brain!

Schmuckatelier Neuner: Viennese arts and craft reloaded
The aim was to develop an entire corporate identity which not only expresses the new identy of the company but whose mere process helped to define this new identy. In any case the new identity had to be powerful enough to outlast short living fashion trends. Already Adolf Loos had the deeper insight that it was the subtle treatment and correct application of material which could produce a real masterpieces. So we searched for extraordinarily gifted viennese handcrafters. Most of them were operating small workshops and were willing to develop prototypes. The heart of the shop is a the raw steel staircase which loops up to the atelier. The handrail has a constant inclination and the pattern was milled leaving enough “flesh” to perform static requirements.
The ramp at the entrance and the frontplate of the retail counter were developed in cooperation with atelier aller art. Various objects corresponding to the theme “magic forest” (entrance ramp) and “underwaterworld” were collected and cast into a clay - mould. The actual result is a negative, concrete cast. The image shows a detail of the frontplate.
Grafic elements were introduced which can determine the appearance of the shop and be changed temporarily. The actual graphics is made by the illustrator Gina Mueller. The image shows a detail of a 5*3 meter rear panel which is used as a huge billboard.
The workshop is an open part of the upper level and forms the loud, untidy and sometimes smelly counterpart to the tidy sales room downstairs.
Friendly House: Electronic music and hardware store

The friendly house, a viennese electronic music store, was founded 10 years ago by a Dj. The appearance of the first shop was an expression of what electronic dance music was about in the nineties - a cave. In the last years, however, electronic music outgrew its status as underground culture and rapidly became conditioned for mass consumption. The once illegal rave parties became domesticized into the urban landscape of clubs which had little to do with its roots. Ibiza can be seen as the perfect symbolisation - developed by some dropouts it rapidly became swapped by the fun generation resulting in clubs made for thousand party willing people.
The clean and edgy design contains elements of the club culture. The design is a hommage to the technoid formal language which was coined by the first elektronic groups such as cabaret voltaire or kraftwerk.
